Gambit Looks at Immigrant Anxiety in New Orleans

Recently, Alex Woodward of Gambit Weekly wrote about the impact of Donald Trump's election and ideas about immigration-oriented law enforcement in New Orleans, and I'm glad I could be of help to his story. Right now, anxiety about what might happen is as palpable as what actually is happening, so Woodward tells the story of a community bracing for impact.

In it, he writes about New Orleans being a "sanctuary city"--a designation that means different things in different locations. Because Trump has threatened them in conjunction with immigration law enforcement ideas, The New York Times' "The Daily" podcast recently traced the origins of sanctuary cities back to the 1980s.
